DIY Chalk Paint, Not Chalkboard!

So I have been dying to paint my daughters dresser and some other things. But I finally did the dresser...for the most part. I had to put a few nails in it first.

Anyways, its made out of that crappy laminent fake wood that just completely falls apart and is a waste of money! So after a few nails and hammering a few spots back into place, it was ready.

This is the paint I used. The color is called "fern gully", yes like the movie.
Youre going to want to take:
1 cup of paint
1/2 cup baking soda
3tbs of water

MIX MIX MIX MIX

And then its ready.

PAINT PAINT PAINT PAINT

And this is my result after about two coats...

You can still see streaks but thats what I s going for. And forgive the missing drawer, thats the one that fell apart.
It does dry fast!
Also, beware, because it will scratch off easily!
Now all I have to do is buy a top coat. No, I am not using a wax. Im simplifying it!
And then it should be all finished!

I was a little skeptical about the baking soda, but it turned out great!

Fast, Simple Smokey Eye

These are the products used today!
Revlon Nearly naked Foundation
I mixed both shades to get my color!
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner
Nyx La Amoureux Mascara
Urban Decay Naked Pallet
Also, I used NYC Bronzer but I forgot to put it in ooooops..

So for the eyes I just applied Sin from the naked pallet and put it all over my eyelid and in my inner corners to highlight.

Then i drew a thin line of the eyeliner on my lid, and just smudged it until it looked smokey.
Applied mascara AND DONE! Super easy and quick!

Outfit and Makeup Of The Day :)

Hello Everyone!
So today when I woke up, at 6am... it was chilly and cloudy out, and there was even a bit of rain.
So me thinking that it was going to stay chilly out, yeah right, I put on pants and a sheer long sleeve shirt.  Now, at 10am, the sun is making it's appearance. Whatever, I am going to continue to wear my "cold" clothes. Haha.

I just have on old navy skinny jeans. The stretchy ones that are soooo comfortable. Any body type can get away with wearing these things. They kinda just suck everything in making it look even and "skinny". But they are super comfy which is a plus.
My shirt is from Pacsun. And I've had it for over a year, and this is my first time wearing it o.O oops.

This morning has been filled with snuggles, oatmeal, and a sleepy baby girl, who is currently sleeping on the couch.
How sweet. All snuggled up with her blankey, that she loves so much!

Okay, onward to the makeup.

Products:
Real Techniques Brushes
Bare Minerals Brush
ELF Contouring Brush
NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara (not pictured)
Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Bordeaux
Covergirl Clean Whipped Crème Foundation in 320
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
Cover FX Translucent Mineral Powder
Revlon Colorstay Eye Shadow in Coffee Bean
Wet N Wild Pallet in Comfort Zone
Maybelline Shimmer Powder in Blissful Pink
Wet N Wild Color Icon Blusher in Heather Silk
NYC Eyelash Curler

Here is me, as I'm applying my war paint. Haha
I just apply the foundation with my fingers usually, but today I wanted a more full coverage look so I used the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and in a circular motion brushed it on.

Then I took my ELF contouring brush and applied the Wet N Wild Blusher in Heather Silk on the apples of my cheeks. And using the same brush I applied the Maybelline Shimmer Powder on my cheek bones and down my nose just to give a little glow to my face.

After, I took the Bare Minerals Brush and applied just a tiny bit of the Cover FX Powder and put that over top it all. The powder gives me just a brightening look. And also with that same brush I took the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and put that on my nose and around my mouth, where I tend to get oily.

Then on my eyebrows I took the Revlon ColorStay eyeshadow and took the 2nd color down and just filled my eyebrows in a bit.

Wet N Wild Pallet, I took the color 2nd down on the left and applied all over eyelid, then took the 3rd color down on the left for my crease.

Applied my Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss.
Curled eyelashes, applied mascara! BAM!
Such an easy look and took really no effort. You can substitute and change any products you would like to get the desired look!

Out in better lighting.

xoxo
Enjoy!

Easy Chowder & Cinnamon Coffee Crumble!!!

Hello Everyone!!!
I know I have been gone for a while, but now I'm back! As you can see the blog has been revamped! Thank you very much to my friend Danielle!

Now the chowder recipe is something that I threw together and it turned out AWESOME!

Ingredients:
1can of cheese and broccoli soup
1can of water
1can of milk
1chicken breast
3cups of mixed veggies
2slices of cheese
salt and pepper for taste

All the ingredients are just things that I had left over. I used mixed frozen veggies which included: corn, broccoli, carrot, and cauliflower. The cheese was just American sliced kraft  singles. (improvise) Next time I will try to use all FRESH ingredients! Also, I will make a big batch next time so we can have leftovers!  I asked my husband if my chowder was better then his moms and of course he said NO HAHA. But he did say it was 2nd Best!

The Cinnamon Coffee Crumble recipe I found on PINTEREST! << link is included :)
The recipe for the crumb part calls for orange zest, which we did use, but the second time I made it I used lemon zest, and it was just as good! Also, the almond extract works so much better then when we tried the vanilla extract!
So sit back and enjoy your piece of cake and enjoy it with some great tea, or coffee. Its great for dessert or breakfast!
We are excited to try this meal during the winter time ;) Ooooo can't wait to have it snuggled up with a nice warm fire.

Stomach Bug

So a few days ago, my daughter had the stomach bug for less than 24hours, so I chalked it up as just eating too much junk food at my parent's house. Then My nephew got it BAD!
So of course, I got it 10x worse! I already have stomach issues so when a bug hits me, it hits HARD! And boy did it. So bad to the point where I was dry heaving and throwing up bike for a few hours. I couldn't get off the floor. Thank goodness we are at my parent's house and they helped out with Lil A.
This is me today, day after ER trip. Which was awful! The ER only had two nursed on staff and one doctor, and a full ER.... Took them over an hour for the doctor to visit than took three hours before someone ppl my blood and then another hour for them to start an Iv drip. And during the whole time I just wanted pain meds for my stomach and something to make the nausea to stop. OH! And I've chips.
This has been my best friend for the past few hours.
Lil A just wants me to get up and put my shoes on! :( poor girl.

Toddler Tuesday

Hello Everyone!!!

Today started out real good, 6am, I was in a good mood, Lil A was in a good mood, all happy. After breakfast, not too much. I tried to hold out on a nap because she hasn't taken a morning nap since she was itty bitty. 9am rolls around ....OKAY LITTLE GIRL, NAP!
She clonked right out!!! I'm wondering, growth spurt maybe? She woke up at noon, didn't want lunch, just snacks. So that's what we did.  2:30 comes around and I decides I would make homemade paint!

She loved them!!! She grabbed the brush and just went right to work!

"Oooo pretty momma"
Then she continued to paint her face and lips. Even a little taste here and there!

All I used was 1/2 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of flour, and 1/2 cup of water. And food coloring!

Toddler Tuesday!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
Today I will be doing my first blog post for Toddler Tuesday! Yay!
Sorry I missed Makeup Monday yesterday, but my skin has not been very "acne free" so we will do that one this weekend!

My first item for Toddler Tuesday is going to be... NETFLIX!

I know, I know, some of you are like why is Netflix a toddler item? Well you see, in my house, we do not have cable, just Netflix and Hulu.  My child loves scrolling through all of the movies and shows, looking for characters she knows. And then when she finds what she wants...BAM! MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY!!!

She recently for the past couple weeks has discovered Tinker Bell, and let me tell you, she is OBSESSED! Every time the t.v. goes on she starts dancing around and squeaking!

Next, is a consumable.
Honest Kids Juice

100% Organic Juice with only 40 calories, 100% daily value of vitamin C, AND 1/2 the sugar as "other" juices.
My lil one loves these. She gets so excited when she sees them in the pantry. Makes her feel like a big kid I think! haha.
I'm not quite sure on the availability of these. I found mine at Fresh n' Easy, but I  know on the East Coast we don't have Fresh n' Easy, so Wal-Mart may have them too. Also, you can always get them online.
To get coupons and special offers, you just have to go like Honest Tea on Facebook, or follow on Twitter.

I know there isn't too many items that I have mentioned, but most of my products are a weekly thing, not monthly, so some of my posts will be shorter than others!

Healthy Meal

Hello!
Lately I have been way beyond off the wagon. I havent been eating healthy or exercising...I have been stuffing my face with sweets.

So to get back on the wagon tonight I am cooking a healthy dinner.

Buttered garlic shrimp
Zucchini
White rice

Not insanely healthy because of all the butter...and rice, but better.

I take a saucepan and fill it with butter, put my thawed, cooked shrimp in and let it cook. Sprinkle garlic salt and lemon pepper.
Zucchini I just boil.
And then whatever kind of rice, we have instant.

Viola!

Happy, Happy, Happy

Hello everyone!
Sorry ithas been a few days since I did a post but wehave just been busy with playdates and the holiday weekend!

So lately pancakes have been my go to breakfast in the morning because they are just so dang yummy. My secret to amazing pancakes weather they are from scratch (which is how we make them) or from the box, I always always add vanilla extract! ALWAYS! And if I have french vanilla creamer, I will substitute that for the milk and OH MY LORD....they come out tasting like vanilla cake and smelling like vanilla bean ice cream! It is the best substitute I have found in my cooking.

Fitness Friday!

Hello Everyone!
So this month for me, is going to be about working out and attempting to eat healthier!
I love working out as long as it doesn't consist of running...or push up...or sit ups!
So what kind of work out do I enjoy???

ZUMBA!!!
Now, I'm not one of those people who is completely obsessed with zumba.  I don't have all the clothing and accessories and what not.  I enjoy going once a week to my gym to a zumba class, but other than that, I do it at HOME!
That's right zumba at home, it's actually a lot of fun!  & it gets my toddler up and moving too.
I have a link to youtube that has 6 videos of a zumba class on base that I use to go to.  The instructor, Melissa, is amazing!  But...she doesn't do classes here anymore :(
All of her songs are modern and up-beat, they aren't regular zumba songs.  Make sure you are drinking lots of water during these work outs.  A zumba class usually lasts an hour, so if you're looking for the full 1 hour work out, you're going to have to find more videos because I don't believe the 6 videos add up to an hour! But they still give you a good workout!

I don't own any of the rights to these videos they are all from youtube.

Enjoy!

The Terrible 18 Months?

Hello Everyone!

Today has just been one of those days where you are terribly tired, and cranky...and so is your toddler.  It seems that for the past few days, (or what seems as weeks) my little one has:
1. Been a picky eater, which she is not. She usually eats anything. I can only get raisins and fruit in her, and the occasional chicken nugget.
2. Screams at the top of her lungs for no reason, or when she doesn't get her way.
3. Runs away from me as soon as I walk towards her. (screaming)
4. Is obsessed with getting her hands on my ipad.
5. Doesn't want her diaper on.
6. Refuses to have anything to do with me unless its to breastfeed.
7. Will not go to bed at her normal time, or sleep in her own crib.
8. Destroys everything in her path.
9. Bites, hits, and scratches.
That was my rant.
End.

Dr. Sears's tips for screaming, biting, and hitting are linked here, and here.
